We are very happy to introduce our Brand New Higher Education & Research SIG to the UK & Ireland SAP User Group.

The SIG will be held at Absoft Limited, The Hammersmith Room, 1 Lyric Square, Hammersmith.

Elaine Thomson from Absoft will discuss Using SAP Travel Management and Procurement for HEFCE Carbon Management Reporting. Absoft is currently engaging with a small number of universities to develop a blueprint of a shared SAP –based enhancement to support travel-related carbon management reporting. This presentation provides an update on the project and outlines next steps.

Matthew Gordon from Absoft will present Advantage HR and Payroll for Higher Education – Shared Service. Last year Absoft launched its unique SAP HR and Payroll Shared Service solution, which delivers world-class HR and Payroll software at an affordable and predictable cost, reducing carbon footprint, energy costs and outlay on campus-based technology. Here, Matthew Gordon provides an update on the shared service and its deployment within the HE sector.

Birgit Waldinger from SAP will present SAP Carbon Impact Tool in Higher Education. HEFCE now requires Higher Education Organisations to report their carbon footprint, with universities facing financial penalties if they fail to make significant cuts to their carbon emissions. Many organizations we speak to invest great effort and time in manual processes like data collection and reporting and fear the risk of errors in calculations. SAP Carbon Impact enables our customers to accurately measure, confidently report and profitably reduce their enterprise carbon footprint. Our on-demand offering will provide customers with insights into their carbon emissions and help optimise their abatement projects through embedded best practices content.

Paul Abrahamson will deliver the presentation SAP NetWeaver Identity Management at the University of Leicester. A presentation to HERUG about the ongoing project to select and implement a new Identity Management Solution. Firstly, he discuss the background to the project and reasons for choosing SAP NW IdM and expected benefits, giving a very brief overview of the product. Followed by a brief outline of the processes we’ve followed to date and some of  the key design decisions we’ve taken including the establishment of a new team to support the final solution. He’ll give an up-to-date report on the status and scope of the current project and the remaining implementation plan, followed by possible roadmap for future projects. It will conclude with some thoughts around the challenges the University of Leicester has faced and some of the lessons learnt.

John Brennan from Chelford will present Comparing SAP Business Intelligence Options. SAP has a comprehensive and bewildering Business Intelligence portfolio. John looks at the various options available and outlines the various solutions (BW, BOBJ and BPC) and asks some questions that you need to think about when considering using any of the solutions.

Craig Dale from the User Group will discuss User Group influence activities and explain how you can get involved, including SAP Solution Roadmaps, Customer Engagement Initiative and Support Customer Advisory Council, along with providing an update on this year’s User Group Conference.
