Donald MacCormick from Antivia will present BI Apps - Taking dashboards to the next level. Over 90% of dashboards do not conform to a traditional “information-at-a-glance definition; instead, they provide users with the additional ability to interact with their data to enable effective decision-making.
These interactive dashboards which provide data navigation (drill-down, drill across, slice-and-dice), data filtering and sorting, and the ability to define new ad-hoc views of data all through a custom, business-specific interface are more “BI Apps than dashboards.
This progression is an interesting mirror of the recent explosion in “Apps in the consumer mobile market, and there are interesting lessons we can learn from this comparison to help us:
• Create BI applications that users can just pick up and use
• Increase the take-up of BI within our organization
• Extract more value from our existing BI investments
