Jim Dempster from Glasgow City Council will deliver a session on their Deployment of SAP ESS / MSS and associated Business Objects reporting across Glasgow City Council. In 2009, Glasgow City Council established the 2x 2013 programme team to deliver large scale savings in administration across the Council and to make better use of the SAP technology which had been in place since 2004.

The following areas were identified as potential for the main SAP system to exploit:

• Paper payslips
• Maintaining employee personal information
• Leave ,overtime and TOIL requests and approval
• Absence management and reporting.

The Council wanted to use standard  SAP modules to reduce the effort associated with these business processes and so the employee portal (MyPortal) was created to deliver:

• Single sign-on security
• Employee Self Service
• Manager Self Service
• Workflow
• BusinessObject Reporting of standard reports for the manager and HR.

The implementation of MyPortal has been achieved through strong business change and a gradual rollout of improved self service capability to different groups of employees over the last 18 months.

This presentation describes the journey, the ‘highs and lows’ , the actual results achieved and our future plans.
