Sheffield Hallam University are kindly hosting this meeting for us.

Feedback from our attendees at previous Training SIGs tells us that enabling networking is consistently one of the most useful activities at the Special Interest Group meetings.

The focus for the June Training SIG will very much be about networking and sharing the challenges we face, and the different solutions we have come up with to meet those challenges. We'll also have some great content from SAP about Personas, which has the potential to revolutionise the way our teams use SAP.

Stephen Dobson from Sheffield Hallam University will introduce the day and speak about SAP in Higher Education.

This brief presentation introduces the current and future role of SAP and SAP ByDesign in degree programmes at Sheffield Hallam University. In outlining the teaching and training facilitated at Sheffield we explore how students are being readied for future global challenges. SAP is currently embedded in the teaching of a number of Computing courses and as of 2013/14 will be extended into Business courses and also courses in Engineering, pointing the way to an increasingly interdisciplinary environment to foster creative learning and valuable employability experience.

We will be running a workshop style discussion in the morning to discuss current challenges that the group are facing, the topics that we would like to discuss are the following:

  • Training Strategy and Planning
  • Training Needs Analysis
  • Training Documentation
  • Elearning /mobile learning
  • Training Material Creation
  • The Physical Training
  • Environment (Training spaces,The electronic training environment, training clients, simulations)
  • Assessing the effectiveness of training delivery Assessing trainees after training Post Training document storage and access

Michael Bray and Marysol Mantilla from SAP wil be running an SAP UX/Personas Session. SAP Screen Personas is a browser-based rendering engine for classic SAP Dynpro screens. It provides consumer-grade personalisation features that enable IT professionals, key-users, and end-users to simplify business application screens quickly and easily in order to improve the visual appeal, end- user productivity, and performance of SAP. SAP Screen Personas provides IT Managers or end users the ability to make rapid screen changes, delivering an improved user experience and increased work efficiency. SAP Screen Personas helps IT Managers reduce screen clutter for business users, allowing them to access only the data they need to transact business. This translates into increased business user productivity and a more satisfying user experience. SAP Screen Personas allows IT Managers to deliver increased transaction throughput and an improved user experience.

In the afternoon after you have all had a little time to digest the concept of SAP Personas, the first section will be an opportunity for us to talk about how we think SAP Personas could overcome challenges we face, and share ideas on what it means for the Training cycle. Then we will have an opportunity for you to 'take the floor' so if you have a particular challenge or experience you'd like to raise with the group, this is a great session to get help and advice from others who have faced similar challenges in the past.
