Welcome to your June News Chairman's Note Earlier this week the User Group hosted our annual training day for our volunteers, this year we focused on the practical application of Design Thinking. We had some great facilitators from SAP UK&I during the day, as we learned about the methodology and applied it to a practical problem - ‘How do we future proof the UKISUG Conference?’ It was amazing to see the enthusiasm in the room and the sheer volume of ideas and practical ways we could improve the event both for this year and future events. Hopefully those of you that have attended UKISUG Connect before and are already planning to come to the event this year will see some tangible improvements in the guest and speaker experience! ![]()
Over the last few weeks the list of streams for this years conference has been confirmed and we are actively looking for members willing to speak at the event. If you get your proposal in quickly you could also be allocated a space on our highly recommended (by members and User Group volunteers) speaker training day in July.
This week we have also hosted a SIG focused on SAP Licensing, particularly the new Digital Access Model, previewed in a Blog by SAP in May. Over the coming months we will be looking at how we can further support your understanding and journey through this topic. So please get in touch with your feedback on this subject and how you think we can continue to support our members, with events and information.

![]() Optimise RFC Interfaces
RFC interfaces play a crucial role in many SAP implementations by enabling data exchange between SAP systems as well as between SAP and non-SAP systems. Unfortunately, many RFC interfaces are “over-authorised” and have more powerful roles or profiles than they need. This opens up critical vulnerabilities in your SAP landscape.
Many customers are afraid to redesign and restrict their RFC authorisations, because of the critical nature of their interfaces.Technical users cannot pick up the telephone to report an authorisation error, and such errors often occur overnight or at weekends, causing repeated short-dumps until the error is resolved.
The Xiting Authorisations Management Suite (XAMS) enables you to safely re-authorise RFC interfaces and associated technical users without negatively impacting the operation of the interface.
XAMS does this by analysing the interface’s activity in the productive landscape and automatically creates actionable reports that role administrators can use to create matching roles in a development environment quickly. That concept has helped countless customers, such as AUDI or DAIMLER to optimise their RFC interfaces without interrupting their operation.
When the new roles are built, the XAMS Productive Test Simulation functionality allows you to test your new roles against the authorisation requirements of your interface users before removing their old authorisations, meaning that any missing authorisations can be corrected before the final transition to the new roles.
Xiting also offer a free RFC Stocktake tool, which will analyse your interface landscape and assess your security status. Contact us for details!
