Welcome to our July News

Chairmans Note

“The Future is Cloudy" according to SAP SVP Product Strategy Hala Zeine.  She doesn't say this because she believes it is difficult to know how SAP's product portfolio should look but because she believes that Cloud will play an integral part in the SAP offerings of the future.

At the recent SUGEN (Global User Group Network) meeting held in Walldorf, Hala gave a great update on the way SAP decides what products and services should be part of the SAP landscape in the future.  She explained what Bill McDermott refers to as the SAP Product "Scientific Method".  This is the process where SAP reviews the market direction and matches it with SAP's product development and product offering direction.

Hala Zeine has been confirmed as a keynote speaker for our conference in November providing us an opportunity to hear first-hand what products and services are likely to be part of the future SAP landscape and the potential impact and benefit this could have for our organisations.

IBM DB2 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows is the platform for transactional and analytical workloads in the digital, cloud, and cognitive era. It provides new, innovative capabilities and advanced features for demanding data processing requirements on premise or on cloud.

In April, 2016 IBM announced DB2 v11.1, the latest version of their powerful database platform for mission-critical transactional and mixed workload applications with end-to-end security and encryption that protects critical corporate assets. Flexible in-memory DB2 columnar technology offers excellent scalability and performance, combined with a low TCO for SAP BW data warehousing workloads.

For SAP Applications, DB2 offers a proven, optimised database with a long track record of reliability and functional enhancements.  DB2 for SAP helps to reduce TCO against continued IT budget pressure, as witnessed by more than 1,000 Enterprise SAP clients, who have successfully migrated from Oracle to DB2 leveraging experienced SAP DB2 migration experts. With SAP's announcement to support DB2 with NetWeaver 7.40 & 7.50 until at least 2025, DB2 clients can continue to run SAP Landscapes with stability, and high data compression rates whilst effectively integrating Big Data sources and cognitive data analytics.

Whether your business into IT strategy is to enable growth, improve operational results, reduce costs, improve IT infrastructure performance, or innovate and create new products, DB2 for SAP offers the required features and the flexibility that are designed to help you accomplish more. For further information email IBM at [email protected] or [email protected] to find out how DB2 for SAP can help you succeed.

Business ByDesign SIG

Join us for some hands on training at our Business ByDesign SIG on Thursday 28th July at SAP Clockhouse place, near Heathrow.

Rainer Zinow, SVP SAP Business ByDesign Solution Strategy will be presenting the latest update on the SAP Business ByDesign roadmap as well as a demo of the current status of the new ByDesign UI.

Please bring your own laptop to this event as the day will include some hands on training.

Greg Durrans from Orchard House will present Further Reporting in SAP Business ByDesign.

During this training session, we hope to expand your use of reporting in Business ByDesign, utilising some of the fantastic in built features that are often unseen, ensuring that you and your organisation focus and respond in the areas of most value. We will demonstrate working examples of the use of advanced filtering within the reporting suite. This combined with visual aids will support the highlighting of valuable information to the organisation and its employees. These tools are a great way of adding employee specific information to a dashboard avoiding the requirement to analyse in Excel for example, ensuring that the organisation is at its most responsive. We will also take this opportunity to ensure that everybody is comfortable with adding and configuring specific reports to individual employees dashboards.

SAP has been working with the German Football team, DFB, to help them win the Euros, through the use of Big Data analytics. SAP has developed a penalty insights function as part of their SAP Sports One Software, which came into great use during their match against Italy on Saturday, 2nd July where both teams had to take part in a deciding penalty shootout.
