The Media Buzz from Connect 2025

UKISUG Connect was the biggest conference has hosted to date. We had a number of key industry media cover the event, so in case you missed it we’ve put together a round up of some of the coverage.

Prior to the event kicking off, UKISUG Chair Conor Riordan spoke to Jon Reed from diginomica to preview Connect and share his takes on AI, data governance and SAP S/4HANA migrations. Conor highlighted the need for a clear business case for an SAP migration – whether from ECC to S/4 or from ECC to the cloud – to extract value as you go. You can read the full interview here.

During the event Conor spoke with Computer Weekly’s Managing Editor, Cliff Saran, who published their discussion as a podcast – which you can listen to here.

Cliff and Conor discussed how low-code and no-code tooling will change how organisations manage their enterprise software in the future, as well as the role of the citizen developer in the SAP ecosystem.

Conor also spoke with John Leonard, Computing’s Research Editor, discussing cloud migrations, SAP’s future application strategy, and UKISUG members’ request for greater clarity from SAP on why to migrate to the cloud. The article also reflected on UKISUG’s positive relationship with SAP.

The topic of how SAP customers work with SAP was also the subject of Conor’s interview with The Register, which highlighted customer confusion over SAP Business Suite.

Computer Weekly also published a full rundown of Conor’s keynote at the conference and published a blog on the role AI could potentially play in enterprise software, including how it can lower the bar for building useful applications on top of an existing enterprise system.

Customers interviews were also front and centre at Connect, with Computer Weekly speaking with Radisson Hotel Group and Gunnar Glasneck at Imperial Brands about their SAP journey.

Lastly, we must highlight an upcoming episode of SUGTalks where we look at some of the key points raised during the Connect keynotes. Keep an eye on the SUGTalks homepage for this episode in January.
