Data Strategies in an S/4HANA and AI World
Effective data management is fast becoming a pre-requisite for every organisation. Without access to accurate, reliable data, organisations cannot make informed decisions or drive innovation.
At a time when many SAP user organisations are migrating to S/4HANA and/or looking to adopt AI tools, having a solid data foundation is more critical than ever. To explore organisations’ current strategies, the technologies they are adopting, and how data management is underpinning their migrations to S/4HANA, Syniti (in conjunction with UKISUG) has published its 2025 report: Data migration and management for SAP businesses.
Key findings from the report include:
- 70% of organisations have developed a data strategy, with 19% in the planning stage, compared to 63% and 23% respectively a year prior.
- One in five (20%) organisations now have a comprehensive data strategy across their entire organisation, compared to just 12% last year.
- Only 28% of organisations believe they have the necessary skills to effectively make use of their data. And a third (32%) are not confident about the quality of their data.
- 79% of organisations say data management presents a challenge when moving from ECC 6.0 to S/4HANA.
- 86% of organisations report that data management challenges will slow the adoption of AI technology.
Having a successful data management strategy is highly dependent on having the right combination of skills and technology. But, as the research shows, this remains a significant challenge for many organisations.
UKISUG’s Data & Analytics Community aims to support organisations on their data management journey by providing members with the opportunity to network and share knowledge.
